Red Carpet Review: The Emmys 2015

Old Hollywood. New Hollywood. 90 degrees in Hollywood. The red carpet saw it all last night before the 2015 Emmys ceremony honoring television and limited series. I really liked the classic old Hollywood vibe that the Emmys red carpet brought last night, fingers crossed that it stays “in” for the rest of the award season.  So in no particular order, here are my three personal favorites for best dressed.

Ok, fine, Kerry Washington was #1 but honestly anyone who was able to avoid melting in last nights sweltering LA heat probably deserves to be in the best dressed list.  Lets just say what everyone should be thinking by now – Kerry Washington and Olivia Pope might as well be one in the same. At least in regards to their killer sense of style. Almost 24 hours after stepping on the red carpet in her hot off the runway Marc Jacobs gown, Kerry Washington continues to grace fashion all headlines with her sense of style – on screen and off.

Labor Day Living

Even though I am not currently in the states I have always been a fan of Labor Day weekend. It is one of those things that makes summer feel endless when in reality I’m usually already back at school. It’s a tease, but I’ll take it. I am missing out on Labor Day (my classes in London tomorrow) but I figured I would share a few last minute goodies to celebrate the end of summer and the beginning of the academic year.  A huge plus is that a few are even on sale. Also if you are celebrating the weekend, I would suggest whipping up something from this list. Happy Labor Day!

London Inspiration Board

Packing is always tricky but packing for an entire semester is daunting. I decided that the best way to prepare is to find some fall outfits that can inspire my packing and shopping. Pinterest is my go to for collecting ideas because it gives me an easy look book for brainstorming outfits (and new shoes, like #6- where can I find those boots?!). When I think of fall in London my mind skips over the bright pastel frocks of summer and goes right to the basics; skinny jeans, boots and big sweaters. Lately I’ve been especially drawn to dark tones like black, green and gray with some neutrals thrown in to balance it all out so I have a feeling that this color palette is going to carry over to my suitcase. What are you excited about wearing this fall?

Street Stores

I’ve been bad. With last weeks health issues and my trip to New York City this past weekend I have been seriously lacking in posts, but no worries – I have lots of big things planned for this week. Before we get to my Big Apple adventure I wanted to share two awesome street vendors that I came across while wandering last night.

The first is designer Lara Adrienne of Rocked Jewelry. All of her work is beautiful, but I am craving this ring in particular. It is gorgeous and the epitome of a statement piece. Make sure you check out the rest of her work here.

The second is We Run Bos, an athletic apparel company that sells Boston inspired tshirts and tanks. I ended up picking up this tank on a whim, but my sister and I both like it so much that I will probably be going back for another. Check out his website here and shop here.

Wish Upon a Nordstrom’s Sale

It’s that time of year when everything new and exciting has arrived at Nordstrom’s and I can’t help but gawk at the shoe department and create outfits for fall in my head.
